Dangerous

Water on the floor isn't only unsightly, it's dangerous. Clean it up quickly!

Yet another overlooked area

That's a dirty tissue dispenser. Pay attention to these surfaces!

Front Desk Assistance

Here's a quick travel tip--Before you travel, know the emergency contacts. Find out the numbers for the police, hospitals and the like. If you don't do the research in advance, speak with the receptionist or front desk clerk at the hotel they should offer to provide you a list of numbers. Front desk employees--be prepared for this question.

Splatter

Another restroom with a nasty paper towel dispenser. Somehow this seems to be an overlooked area. Restaurants, put this on your to do list.

Move it over

This desk should be moved over about six inches and the computer monitor moved over as well. This would hide the cords and make the lobby appear neater.

Snip the Strings

All furniture wears with time. Keep a small pair of scissors handy to snip strings when they appear.

Presentation Matters!

Sure it's a vegetable tray, but it's a well done vegetable tray. Beautiful presentation makes a big difference.

Lighting

Nice clean lighting! Good job Holiday Inn!

Missing?

This drawer really should be replaced. This photo was taken in a restroom of a very nice restaurant. The vanity was right in front of the toilet in the ladies room. Right where your eyes go if you use the facilities.

Great restaurant--dirty knives

Wonderful restaurant. Beautiful decor, delicious food--dirty knives. I don't want to use these to cut my food.

More than dirt

I found this glob of stuff beside the curtain in an otherwise clean hotel room.

Same restaurant, different day

When I shopped a locally owned restaurant lately, I had two quite different experiences. The first day, I asked for extra lemons...see bottom photo...beautiful presentation. Two days later, I visit again with the same request, the results are here. The point to this blog? The server makes the difference.

That smell

Ah, the smell of cleanliness. Yes, your guests do notice. I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express for the last two nights and the first thing I noticed was the fresh smell. Very pleasant and something many companies overlook. Kudos Holiday Inn Express!

Polish your globes!

Elegant country club, dirty hurricane globes. These should be cleaned before and after each use.

Ceiling fan blades

Often overlooked, but in a country club? Your diners eat right under these fans. A cleaning is in order here!

It's in the details

Plastic tablecloths are not what I am calling your attention to. It's the sloppy placement of the tablecloths. They aren't centered on the table. It's attention to detail that makes a difference. This says "I don't care".

Brochure Racks

Neat, clean and easy accessible. Great for the traveler!

Crumbs

Pictured are crumbs in a windowsill. I took this photo from my seat in the restaurant. Dirty!

Signage done right

This photo was made at a budget hotel. The property was convenient to the interstate and clean. I was impressed by the signage, not all hotels are as easy to navigate. Good job!

Christmas Lights

Christmas lights in the springtime? That's just lazy and unattractive. Store your Christmas lights and decor after the holidays!

Trash done right!

Simple wooden structure, but it hides the receptacle well. Neat landscaping makes this area attractive.

Trash done wrong

Not only is the general area dirty, but the doors have carelessly been left open. This is clearly in sight of hotel guests.
